WET collaborated with The Jerde Partnership International Inc. to develop
the Universal CityWalk water feature in Universal City, California.

One of three works designed for the site, Fountain Court was developed
as the project's central water feature.

Emanating from openings in the plaza surface, a field of kinetic, pulsing
water sprouts are choreographed in a myriad of whimsical patterns and
sequences. A black granite cube is located at one side of the grid of jets.
As part of the programmed sequences, an opening in the top of the cube
emits swirls of mist. Both the surface of the cube and the ground under
the field of animated jets are clad with a thin membrane of water that
unifies the feature in a highly reflective background.

In the evening, the membrane mirrors the surrounding neon and vibrantly
colored signage to reflect the spirit of the carnival atmosphere of
Universal CityWalk.

This feature is designed as a participatory event for visitors to the site who
playfully engage and interact with the water expression. Fountain Court is
a feature for which children are the primary patron and an integral part of
the water feature design.
