Visitors to the residential and retail complex at Americana at Brand inevitably end up fountainside, pulled in by the gravitational force of the choreographed waters and the promise of romance.

WET worked with Americana developer Rick Caruso—for whom WET designed the fountain at The Grove in Los Angeles—in crafting a plaza showpiece that fosters a vibrant sense of community for Glendale, yet at the same time transports visitors to a secret place where abstract shapes express our deepest passions and longings.

Located in a landscaped park at the heart of Americana, the tandem water feature employs over one hundred thirty jets to interpret songs by Barry White, Judy Garland, Bobby Darin, and more. Concentric rings of agile jets in the fountain's 80-foot diameter pool move in ways that would impress any Broadway choreographer, and at its center a pair of fan-shaped jets evoke an ongoing romantic drama.

At night, the feature becomes a twinkling constellation on the plaza, perhaps convincing any would-be sweethearts that this is the time and place to fall in love.

The gold-leafed statue at the center of the second pool was selected by developer Rick Caruso in honor of Americans who fought at Normandy in WWII. The figure, which was not designed by WET, is a replica of Donald De Lue's 1949 Spirit of American Youth memorial sculpture in France.
